Full or Partial House Re-Wiring in Seattle, Washington — Done Right

Seattle's pre-WWII bungalows in Ballard, Wallingford, and Capitol Hill, and the mid-century ramblers in Northgate and Beacon Hill, are full of homes that still run on original knob-and-tube, ungrounded two-wire, or solid-aluminum branch circuits. We do both full rewires and targeted partial rewires, permitted through the Seattle Department of Construction & Inspections (SDCI).

A full rewire means pulling new grounded NM cable to every device and fixture, landing it at a modern panel, and abandoning the old wiring correctly rather than leaving it energized in the walls. A partial rewire focuses on the highest-risk circuits — knob-and-tube in living areas, aluminum branch circuits, or the kitchen and bath loads — and can be phased over time. We help you choose based on what's actually in your walls and your budget.

Rewiring is invasive, so we plan routing to minimize drywall cuts and coordinate with your finishes. Every new circuit is grounded and GFCI/AFCI protected where required, permitted and inspected through SDCI, and labeled at the panel.

Questions

Full or Partial House Re-Wiring in Seattle — Your Questions

How do I know if my Seattle home has knob-and-tube wiring?

Knob-and-tube is most common in pre-1930s Seattle homes. We inspect the attic, basement, and a few device boxes to confirm what's in your walls and recommend a full or phased rewire.

"I had an incredible experience getting service done from All City Electric. I wanted to have some outlets fixed as well as install a Level 2 Charger. They were easy to schedule a time for an estimate and also for the service. The electrician came right on time for both appointments and was very respectful and sweet. Every team member was very kind and sweet and accommodating. I would highly recommend them for any future service needs you have!"

"I called All City Electric when my laundry room and living room lights would not turn off. If you tried to turn them off they flicker. Then 5 of my outlets either didn't work or things would fall out of them. I finally got sick of it and reached out explaining my situation. The gal that answered my call was very sweet and kind. Even when I called back the next day saying I forgot to write it down and wanted to confirm my appointment day and time. We had a good laugh. She made my day! Today, Kevin showed up on time and confirmed the problem and got to work right away. He was pleasant and kind during the entire process. He answered all my questions. Thank you to the entire staff and owner of All City Electric!! You will forever have my business. Please call if you have any issues. They are absolutely the best to work with!! Thank you again!!"
