Outlet & Switch Installation in Seattle, WA
Outlet and switch installation in Seattle covers more than swapping devices. In older homes it means checking whether a circuit is grounded before replacing two-prong outlets, adding GFCI protection where code requires it, and tracking down why an outlet stopped working.

A lot of Seattle homes, especially the pre-WWII bungalows in Ballard, Capitol Hill, and West Seattle, still have two-prong outlets on ungrounded two-wire or knob-and-tube circuits. Mid-century ramblers in Beacon Hill often have too few outlets per room, which leads to power strips and extension cords stretched across the room. Swapping a two-prong outlet for a three-prong on an ungrounded circuit creates a false sense of safety, so in these houses the right answer is either GFCI protection or new grounded cable.
We add receptacles where you need them on properly protected circuits, install tamper-resistant GFCI outlets in kitchens, baths, garages, and outdoors, and add AFCI protection for living areas. We also install USB outlets, dimmers, three-way switches, timers, and smart switches, confirming the box has the wiring the device needs. If an outlet is dead or not working right, we trace the circuit, check the breaker, connections, and any upstream GFCI, and repair the cause. Permitted work goes through SDCI, and every device is landed and labeled at the panel.
Let us know how many outlets or switches you're adding or replacing and whether any are dead, warm, or loose. If we find ungrounded wiring, we'll explain your options, such as GFCI protection or a new grounded run, before we proceed. You'll get clean device plates and circuits that are actually safe to load. Outlet & Switch Installation in Seattle: Your Questions
Can you replace two-prong outlets in my Seattle home?
Yes, but only with three-prong outlets where the circuit is actually grounded. Many older Seattle homes have ungrounded wiring, so we install GFCI-protected receptacles, which are code-compliant, or run new grounded cable. We never install a three-prong outlet on an ungrounded circuit without protection.
One of my outlets in Seattle stopped working. Can you fix it?
Yes. We trace the circuit, checking the breaker, the connections, and any upstream GFCI that may have tripped, to find why the outlet is dead. Then we repair the actual cause instead of just swapping the device.
Where are GFCI outlets required?
Code requires GFCI protection in places like kitchens, bathrooms, garages, and outdoors. We install tamper-resistant GFCI receptacles in those locations and AFCI protection on living-area circuits, all landed and labeled at the panel.
Can you install smart switches in an older house?
Usually. Many smart switches need a neutral wire, which some older switch boxes don't have. We check the box and wiring first and either install a compatible device or update the wiring so the switch you choose works properly.

"I had an incredible experience getting service done from All City Electric. I wanted to have some outlets fixed as well as install a Level 2 Charger. They were easy to schedule a time for an estimate and also for the service. The electrician came right on time for both appointments and was very respectful and sweet. Every team member was very kind and sweet and accommodating. I would highly recommend them for any future service needs you have!"

"I called All City Electric when my laundry room and living room lights would not turn off. If you tried to turn them off they flicker. Then 5 of my outlets either didn't work or things would fall out of them. I finally got sick of it and reached out explaining my situation. The gal that answered my call was very sweet and kind. Even when I called back the next day saying I forgot to write it down and wanted to confirm my appointment day and time. We had a good laugh. She made my day! Today, Kevin showed up on time and confirmed the problem and got to work right away. He was pleasant and kind during the entire process. He answered all my questions. Thank you to the entire staff and owner of All City Electric!! You will forever have my business. Please call if you have any issues. They are absolutely the best to work with!! Thank you again!!"
