Whole-House & Partial Rewiring in the Seattle Area
Remove knob-and-tube, aluminum, and ungrounded wiring; rewire whole homes or single circuits.
A lot of greater-Seattle homes built before 1960 still live with original wiring — knob-and-tube, ungrounded two-wire, or solid-aluminum branch circuits from the 1960s–70s. Each of these carries real fire and shock risk as it ages, and none of it supports the loads or GFCI/AFCI protection a modern home needs.
We rewire whole homes and also do targeted partial re-wires — for example the kitchen and bath during a remodel, or the branch circuits feeding bedroom outlets so you can use grounded three-prong devices safely. We route new NM cable cleanly, pull it back to a modern panel, and abandon the old wiring correctly rather than leaving it energized in the walls.
Rewiring is invasive, so we plan routing carefully to minimize drywall cuts, patch where we can, and coordinate with your finishes. You get grounded, properly protected circuits and the peace of mind that your wiring isn't the weak link in your home.

Full or Partial House Re-Wiring — Your Questions Answered
Does my house need a full rewire or can it be done in stages?
Often in stages. We can prioritize the highest-risk circuits — knob-and-tube in living areas, aluminum branch circuits, or kitchen and bath loads — and phase the rest over time. We'll map what you have and recommend a sequence.
How disruptive is a whole-home rewire?
It's a real construction project: we open walls to route cable, then patch. We plan routing to minimize cuts and can coordinate with a finish carpenter or drywall contractor. We'll walk you through what to expect before we start.
How do I know if my home has knob-and-tube or aluminum wiring?
Knob-and-tube is most common in pre-1930s homes; solid-aluminum branch circuits appear in 1960s–70s builds. We inspect the attic, basement, and a few device boxes to confirm what's in your walls and recommend a full or phased rewire.
Do you pull permits for a rewire?
Yes. Rewiring requires an electrical permit and inspection. We pull the permit through your local jurisdiction, schedule rough and final inspections, and make sure the new circuits are grounded and protected to code.
Can you rewire just the kitchen and bathrooms?
Yes — a targeted partial rewire of the kitchen and bath is one of the most common jobs we do, especially during a remodel, bringing those high-load circuits up to grounded, GFCI/AFCI-protected code.
Will a rewire require a panel upgrade too?
Sometimes. If your panel is full, ungrounded, or undersized for the new circuits, we'll recommend a panel upgrade or subpanel so the rewire lands safely and has room to grow.

"I had an incredible experience getting service done from All City Electric. I wanted to have some outlets fixed as well as install a Level 2 Charger. They were easy to schedule a time for an estimate and also for the service. The electrician came right on time for both appointments and was very respectful and sweet. Every team member was very kind and sweet and accommodating. I would highly recommend them for any future service needs you have!"

"I called All City Electric when my laundry room and living room lights would not turn off. If you tried to turn them off they flicker. Then 5 of my outlets either didn't work or things would fall out of them. I finally got sick of it and reached out explaining my situation. The gal that answered my call was very sweet and kind. Even when I called back the next day saying I forgot to write it down and wanted to confirm my appointment day and time. We had a good laugh. She made my day! Today, Kevin showed up on time and confirmed the problem and got to work right away. He was pleasant and kind during the entire process. He answered all my questions. Thank you to the entire staff and owner of All City Electric!! You will forever have my business. Please call if you have any issues. They are absolutely the best to work with!! Thank you again!!"
